stage & installation:

- String Theory can set up on many different types of surfaces indoors and outdoors.

- We do not necessarily need to use a stage surface depending on where the performance installation is taking place, although a stage usually maximizes the impact of the performance.

- Suggested stage size (performance area footprint) is 24 x 30 feet for a large-scale Harp installation and 8 or more performers. Stage size can pare way down for smaller Harp installations with fewer performers.

- Access to termination points: railings and balconies work well, as does the lip of the façade of buildings. These areas to be predetermined through site survey or remote site survey (digital photos, email, and conversations with building engineers & client)

- One genie lift or very tall A frame ladder for tuning strings

- Possibly several hundred pounds of pig iron or sand bags

PA system & sound:

- House PA system with enough power for the venue

- Sound board with at least 24 channels with reverb unit & compressor, and a talented engineer to run the system

- At least 4 wedge monitors with at least 3 mixes

- 2 sources of standard AC power – 20 amp circuits

- 3 floating vocal mics on boom stands

- 4 direct boxes – Bass, Classical Guitar, Cello, Violin

- 4 mics minimum on drum kit – kick, snare, tom, overhead

- 2-4 floating percussion (tom or kick oriented) mics for cyclodrums

- Conga/Dumbek mic

- Stereo in from submix of tablas & PC loops

- Stereo in from Hammond organ

- Flute mic

- Tenor Sax mic

- All appropriate stands & cables

- String Theory submixes the Harps and sends two XLR feeds to your board

- We can bring our own PA system & engineer on local performances for between $2,000 - $800 depending on scale of performance.

lighting:

- Stage should be well lit with at least 3 washes - ambers, golds and whites work well as do purples and blues.

- At least 6 floor lights all the way downstage in front focused on the string installation perpendicularly from underneath to really 'pop' the strings

- Intelli-lights and follow spots add drama, but are not required.
