moon harp

The Moon Harp is our newest and largest Harp, and has so far been installed at the LA Convention Center for The 48th annual Grammy Celebration among other select events. Standing over 7 feet tall, up to 48 Golden Musical brass wires will emanate out from the Moon Harp, and radiate up and out to their termination points in the surrounding architecture, creating a golden canopy of sound over the guests. The audience will literally be enveloped by the strings and the shimmering tones of the Harp.

The Moon Harp is accompanied by cello, violin, guitar, bass, drums, percussion, keys, sampler, saxophone, flute, voice and other instruments. 4 Dancer/Harpists utilize a unique choreography designed specifically to play the long string Harp with kinetic movement. Two 'Cyclodrum' sculptures will add intensity and energy, and balance the tonality of the long strings. Dance vignettes such as Smoke Skirts and Spanish Collars will occur throughout the performance. With 12-14 performers total, String Theory will put on a kinetic and enthralling performance that is as engaging visually as it is sonically.

The Skirt Harp, an eleven foot diameter sonic Tutu that emits unearthly sounds can be added to this performance.

Material will range from modern reinterpretations of Ravel, Tchaikovsky, and 15th century Spanish renaissance pieces to cutting edge modern ambient, peppered with ethnic percussion and even some Pink Floyd. The audience will be amazed as they enjoy the kinetic visual aspects, as well as the expansive sonic nature of the performance.
